Erol Evgin's Strong Reaction to the Loss of Young Atlas Çağlayan

The murder of 17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan by stabbing in Istanbul's Güngören district has plunged the whole of Turkey into grief. Following this heinous incident, artist Erol Evgin expressed his reaction through a striking post on his social media account. Evgin described the events as a threat to the safety of society and called for streets to be made safer.

'We Are at a Loss for Words': Erol Evgin's Call for Justice

Artist Erol Evgin conveyed his deep sorrow for Atlas Çağlayan, who was taken from life at a young age, and for other victims. In his statement on social media, Evgin expressed his helplessness by saying, "I cannot reconcile myself to silence; but when I want to say something, we are at a loss for words!" Drawing attention to the painful losses, Evgin stated, "Hakan Çakır, Alperen Ömer Toprak, Mattia, Ahmet Minguzzi, Atlas Çağlayan… Young, brilliant children; they are no more." Wishing patience to all grieving families, the artist reiterated his demand for justice by saying, "What has happened is a threat to all of our safety. Street safety must be increased. I demand JUSTICE for all murdered children, all women, all people."

New Developments in the Atlas Çağlayan Case

In the incident that occurred on January 14 in Güngören, Istanbul, 17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan was killed by a 15-year-old attacker. Following the event, an investigation was launched into suspects who threatened Atlas Çağlayan's family. The Istanbul Provincial Police Department carried out work related to individuals who made provocative posts on social media and targeted the family. As a result of these efforts, 3 suspects identified as threatening the family were sent to the criminal court of peace with a request for their arrest. A total of 6 people have been arrested in connection with Atlas Çağlayan's death.
