The will case of the beloved arabesque music legend Ferdi Tayfur, who passed away last year, will be heard in court next month.
Nilüfer Gözalıcı, the niece of Ferdi Tayfur, who was sued by his son Timur Turanbayburt and daughter Tuğçe Tayfur, has spoken out for the first time regarding the inheritance dispute. Gözalıcı stated, "The process from now on will proceed as my uncle Ferdi wished. His desire will be fulfilled both financially and spiritually." Her words were met with a furious reaction from Tuğçe Tayfur.
Following Ferdi Tayfur's passing, a dispute over the distribution of his inheritance arose between his children and nieces/nephews, eventually leading to legal action.
According to the will, Ferdi Tayfur bequeathed several properties in Yalova and Istanbul to the Darüşşafaka Society, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), and the Foundation for Children with Leukemia (LÖSEV). Apartments in Istanbul were allocated to Darüşşafaka, eight villas in Yalova to LÖSEV, and an apartment in Bolu to the TSK. The artist's other assets were designated as inheritance for his children, grandchildren, nieces/nephews, and his wife Zeliha Tayfur Bayburt.
However, a notable detail in the will was that Ferdi Tayfur did not directly leave any assets to his daughter Tuğçe Tayfur and son Timur Turanbayburt. Consequently, Tuğçe Tayfur and Timur Turanbayburt contested the will and took the matter to court.
Nilüfer Gözalıcı, the niece set to inherit a portion of Ferdi Tayfur's estate, strongly refuted the baseless allegations made against her. Gözalıcı declared, "I will initiate all necessary criminal and legal proceedings against the named parties who are attempting to tarnish and defame my name and my dear uncle Ferdi Tayfur with false claims and slander, aiming to mislead the public. I will hold them accountable in court for all the unfounded slanders spoken about me."
Gözalıcı also emphasized her close relationship with her uncle, Ferdi Tayfur, stating, "I grew up with my uncle. Throughout my marriage and afterward, I was always with my uncle. He was my life. Everything will proceed according to my uncle's wishes." These statements are likely to further escalate the inheritance dispute and the tension between the parties.
