Commemoration Events on the First Anniversary of Ferdi Tayfur's Passing

One year has passed since the passing of the legendary arabesque music icon, Ferdi Tayfur. On this special day, his daughter Tuğçe Tayfur and his niece Şirin Gözalıcı have announced that they will commemorate the master artist by holding separate mawlids (religious ceremonies) in different locations. This situation once again sheds light on the delicate relationships within the family.

Tuğçe Tayfur's Emotional Farewell to Her Father

Tuğçe Tayfur shared an emotional message on her social media account on the anniversary of her father's death. Recounting a memory with her father amidst the falling snow in Istanbul, Tuğçe Tayfur expressed her deep longing, saying, "Snow fell in Istanbul, father. It snowed so much when I was at university, and I had my final exams. But I was afraid to drive, the roads were icy and snowy. You came and told me, 'Don't bother getting ready, you can't go anywhere in this snow and cold.' I said, 'Daddy, there's an exam, an exaaammm.' You laughed and said, 'Your voice is beautiful, you can sing a song and make up for your exam later.' Oh, my father, you are my open wound. We are the ones who are in exile in this world. May Allah make you a neighbor to our Prophet. As every day, today my prayers are for you."

Tuğçe Tayfur announced that prayers will be offered for her father at the Emirgan Mosque with the evening call to prayer tonight. She requested those who cannot attend to recite a Fatiha or Yasin at home to join the prayers.

Şirin Gözalıcı's Commemoration for Her Uncle

Ferdi Tayfur's niece, Şirin Gözalıcı, who is in a legal dispute with Tuğçe Tayfur, will be holding mawlids in different cities to commemorate her uncle. Gözalıcı announced that Mevlid-i Şerif will be recited before the Friday prayer at Adana Sabancı Central Mosque and Antalya Muratpaşa Mosque. Furthermore, she stated that he will be remembered with prayers at his grave at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 2nd, the day of his passing, at the Istanbul Yeniköy Cemetery. Gözalıcı invited all the public to this commemoration.
