Renowned actor Can Yaman, who was detained and subsequently released as part of a drug and prostitution investigation centered in Istanbul, has spoken for the first time about the ordeal. In a statement made via social media, Yaman denied the accusations against him, describing the situation as an "attack."
Coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous operations were carried out targeting several entertainment venues. During these operations, items such as narcotics, ammunition, and precision scales were seized. A total of 7 suspects, including prominent figures, were taken into custody within the scope of this investigation.
The investigation encompassed serious allegations including "possession of narcotics for use," "facilitating drug use," and "inciting or facilitating prostitution." Among those detained were actors Can Yaman, Selen Görgüzel, Ayşe Sağlam, and Ceren Alper. Following their processing, the suspects continued with their legal proceedings.
Can Yaman, who was released after his procedures at the police station were completed, made a statement while preparing for his return to Rome. Referring to reports in the Turkish press, Yaman stated, "Dear Italian press, the usual attack from the Turkish press is not new! But please do not copy the news coming from the Bosphorus incorrectly. Do you think I was walking around with drugs at a time when the police were arresting many celebrities? If there were even the slightest grain of truth, I would not have been released so quickly and could not have returned to Italy the next day. I love you." With these words, he indicated that the allegations were unfounded and that his swift release was proof of this.
Following these events, Can Yaman is expected to return to Italy as soon as possible. The actor's statement serves to answer the questions that have arisen regarding the investigation and detention process.
